Tour Point
・In this two-day course, participants will observe plants, trees, birds, animals, etc. in Koyasan and contrast the man-made forest (Genji Forest) with a natural forest untouched by human hands, and learn how to create a forest that can coexist with the unique life forms of Koyasan.
・Participants will also have hands-on experience of thinning trees to maintain the forest.
・This course was made possible by the Koyasan Teraryo Forestry Association. In 2015, they made it possible for the first time to conduct observation tours in this area.
Program Overview
- Koyasan(Mt.Koya), the area around Okuno-in and Manisan(Mt.Mani), designated by Wakayama Prefecture as an important conservation area, is a forest that has existed for a thousand years and has changed with the times. Focusing on giant trees and plants, we will walk with Ms. Nishida, who is active in the Koyasan Jiryo Forest Association.
